Privacy, in plain terms
Optional leaderboards
Choose a player name to save completed results on Dayplay Games leaderboards, or play anonymously. A first-party cookie remembers your name across our games. An optional password supports other devices; we store a salted password hash. Account email is optional and password reset is not available. An account email is optional, private, unverified, and separate from game-update subscriptions. Change or remove it at the player page. Delete your player and scores at Manage your player. Daily results last 14 days and weekly results up to three weeks; names without scores expire 30 days after creation. Scores are reported by the browser, for casual play with no prizes.
Relay Tangle is a puzzle game in chapters from Dayplay Games, a brand of Winter Watermelon. You can play without an account.
Puzzle progress stays here
This browser saves the names of finished puzzles, your fewest steps on each, your most recent board, your fewest steps on each day’s daily puzzle (the last 35 days) and your day streak. Unfinished moves are not saved. Use “Progress & privacy” in the game to reset these marks. A shared link contains only a fixed puzzle name or a date. The old relay.rtgproductlabs.com address remains playable. Progress and analytics choices stay separate at each address; moving to relay.dayplaygames.com does not transfer either. You can return to the old address to keep your existing marks.
Analytics choice
When product analytics are allowed, we also use Google Analytics, based in the United States, to measure visits and named product actions. It uses first-party browser and session cookies, processes connection information such as IP addresses to provide the service, and receives fixed page routes, approved campaign labels and the referring site hostname. We do not send form contents, uploaded files, email addresses or private workspace addresses. Advertising signals and personalization are disabled. The same regional consent, browser privacy signals and turn-off control apply to both analytics services; turning analytics off stops Google collection and removes its cookies. Google analytics event data is retained for up to 14 months. Anonymous totals are not sent to Google.
Outside the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, product analytics (PostHog, in the United States) are on by default so we can see which puzzles people finish and whether people return — use the control above to turn them off at any time. We honor a browser’s Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal automatically: when either is present, analytics stay off, even if this browser previously chose to allow them.
In the EU/EEA, UK and Switzerland, and whenever we cannot tell where a visit is from, we ask first with a small pop-up card before sending anything to PostHog. Until you allow it, or if you decline, we keep only anonymous daily totals in Cloudflare D1, stored in the EU: page visits, and for this game, puzzle starts, finishes and voluntary retries. Those totals hold no ID, IP address, user agent or referrer, are kept for up to 90 days, and are never sent to PostHog. “Turn off analytics” above stops those totals too.
What PostHog receives
Once analytics are on, PostHog, our analytics provider in the United States, receives a random browser ID, session ID, fixed board names and a few milestones: starting, finishing, restarting and choosing another puzzle. Step and attempt counts are grouped into ranges. Each event can include an SDK session ID and approximate country from the service edge; country can be unknown, and event IP is masked. We use later play by the same browser ID to understand returns.
Only fixed campaign labels for the RTG portfolio, Dayplay Games home, GitHub playtest link or Rando listing are included when present. We also receive coarse browser, operating-system and device types, plus a referring site hostname when your browser supplies one. An absent referrer is marked unavailable, not assumed to be a direct visit. We do not send arbitrary link parameters, browsing history, referrer paths, move sequences, typed text or key presses. There is no session recording, fingerprinting, advertising SDK or sale of data, and no automatic click recording; replay is opt-in only and is not currently offered here. The browser ID cannot connect your activity across devices or between the old and new game addresses. Event URLs use the fixed canonical game address, without link parameters.
For Dayplay Games testing
Network providers necessarily receive connection information such as an IP address to serve a request. We disable analytics geolocation and replace the event IP field; this is not a promise that hosting or provider security logs contain no connection information.
Change your choice
Use the control above at any time. Turning analytics off removes this browser’s stored measurement ID, first-touch attribution and first-completion/activation marks, and stops new PostHog events and anonymous totals from the next page load onward, including in this game’s other open tabs. Previously delivered events are not removed by this action. Turning analytics back on starts with a new ID. This never clears your puzzle progress or the separate “mark this browser internal” QA setting. If storage is blocked, your choice lasts only for the current page.
The separate downloadable game package contains no analytics. Embedded play on this owned site also has analytics disabled. Counts from those versions are not part of owned-site analytics.
